As a kid I walked blocks with my dad to the deli a few times a week to get M.S. Sodas. Being near Westchester Sqare and the 6 train in the Bronx, there were dozens of places to get it. Now that I'm in San Diego,Ca., There's only one place to get it and that's in Little Italy. I bought a 24 bottle case for less than 33 Bucks. Happy Hunting Pisans.......Joey in San Diego..... P.S. I looked for 13 years and finally found it. I was a little disapointed to see that the label was changed!

I am 14 years old. I love Manhattan Special. Everytime I visited my Grandpa we would walk to the corner store on Powers Street and get a bottle each. I still love it...Although I moved to Upstate, NY...My dad works in rikers island and picks me up 2 cases. I still wish you never would of changed the label. Because thats what I remembered it by when I was younger. ROCK ON MS!

Manhattan special is a great drink. I've been drinking it all my life. Ever since I was a kid and lived two blocks from the factory. The recipe has'nt changed much over the years, which is great, but the new label is not good. You should'nt have taken the twin towers out of the skyline. You should have left them in and surrounded them with a ribbon or something like that, after all you used to be able to see them from the neighborhood that created the drink. Best regards, L.D.
Mary P wrote on August 7, 2004 at 8:11 pm:

I am 37 years old and grew up in Brooklyn. MS was second nature to me. I thought everybody drank MS. 12 years ago I left NYC and moved around the country and could not find it. To tell you the truth, after a little while, I didn't think about it anymore. Then I came back to NYC 2 years ago and rediscovered it in a Pizza joint on Court street in Bklyn. It was great to taste that special flavor again and it made me think of the childhood I had, Stick-ball, kick the can, Johnny on the pony and Manhattan Special. I left NYC again. I am in Washington DC. This time I'm looking for it! Peace.

I was born and raised in the Bronx near Arthur Ave and 187st and until the time I went into the Navy I would drink a MS everyday after school or whenever I had the money to do so. I have lived in Virginia Beach since 1971 and two weeks ago I found a Italian resturant that carries it, the taste is the same as I remember it please don't ever change the process.

Several years ago, upon discovering Manhattan Special, I had one of those personal epiphanies of nostalgia and connectivity. The sweet rich coffee flavor washed away the crusty sediment of adult life and opened memory passages to my Italian-American up-bringing and family life. Although not easy to find these days, "Manhattan Coffee Soda" is worth the search. Grazie.

Reading the guest book brings back fond memories. I grew up in Carroll Gardens Brooklyn, better known as Red Hook, the only thing we drank and loved was Manhattan Special, frigid cold, and we had it with everything, lunch, snacks, dinner. No one I knew drank Coke...whattayacrazy!!! Coke this! No matter where I traveled in the US no one had a drink like MS, and I told everyone about it. I still find people to turn on to it. Most recently Chinese immigrants, they love it too! I now live in Queens and have found several outlets that sell it. I now work in Grand Central and there is a store in the food court that sells it. It makes my whole day to have one. MS FOREVER!

I am now 54 and I grew up on Metropolitan Ave in the Williamsburg/Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, just blocks from the Manhattan Special plant. I remember the small hand-painted bottles with the nearly black stained bottoms. Seems to me, the soda was different, better, then. But even today, there is no soft drink better. To the writer from Boca Raton looking for a local vendor... I get my Manhattan Specials from Bella Monte, on Atlantic Blvd., in Pompano Beach, and they have both the regular and the sugar free there. MS got me through many nights of cramming for exams in college and in grad school. Thanks.

I'm currently 19yrs. old and I have been drinking Manhattan Specials ever since I was a little kid. I grew up in the Bronx, so they have been around me all my life. I remember drinking them at the pizzeria every Sunday afternoon with my father. I constantly stock up the refridgerator at work with them. They are great, especially for a quick pick-me-up. My former manager got me started on putting a little drop of half and half in it every once in a while. It tastes best ICE COLD. I also make my own Manhattan Special shakes with vanilla ice-cream. I enjoy drinking Manhattan Special over regular coffee or espresso any day!

THE BEST Cream soda I have ever tasted is Manhattan Special Vanilla Cream. It is second to none, and that includes all of their other competitors in the cream soda market such as Dr. Brown's, Henry Weinhard, Jones, Stewart's, Thomas Kemper, etc., AND A&W. For combination of taste, sweetness and carbonation, it just can't be beat. Jones comes close, but is just too sweet. The other brands can be too heavily carbonated. And let's not even talk about A&W! The Manhattan Special folks got the smarts and got the product JUST RIGHT! Congratulations! (I have posted a positive review on BevNET, as well.)

I sometimes make MS Jello by adding an envelope of Knox's unflavored gelatin to a tablespoon of water, having it melt and then adding that to a small bottle of MS, then having it set in the fridge for a couple of hours, Delicious! Especially with a dollop of whipped cream on top. My friends love this.

I have been a drinker of Manhattan Special since I was a child. I grew up in the Bronx, and in an Italian neighborhood at Morris Avenue & 153rd Street. A picture of Robert DeNiro adorns my wall, and it is a snapshot from Godfather 2 where he's standing in front of the Italian grocery where he worked and a Manhattan Special sticker adorns the window. Now I live in New Port Richey, FL and recently have been able to find Manhattan Special, after 17 years, but I have to buy the "diet" by the case in the big bottles. Any idea where I can by small bottles of "Diet" in this region. There's a local Italian deli whose "sangwiches" are delicious, but with Manhattan Special they are to die for. The only way a good italian "sangwich" should be eaten.

What can I say, but "Manhattan Special" Is my all time favorite cold coffee drink!! My BIG problem is finding it!!! I thought for the longest time, that this great drink had been discontinued! To my surprized I have found a small bottle of it in a tiny deli, of course I bought all the 4 left. Why Is this drink so hard to find!!!! I LOVE IT!

my father owned a italian american delicatessen for 20 years in south florida, and nothing reminds me more of him or those good times than a cold bottle of your manhattan special. we would all sit around and talk about the old days. your beverage made us all feel like we where home again. god bless and keep on turning out a truly unique product. jeffrey thomasino cerretaJEFFREY T. Grew up on Avenue U in Brooklyn, drinking MS almost every day. I craved it while in the service for six years. Now that I'm back, my favorite drink is always close by.
